Adventuring For Christ At Bentourible

Mon, 12/12/2011 - 3:00pm |  haititrails

This past week I held revival services at our Bentourible church. Edlens Cezard is the pastor at Bentourible. The Bentourible church is over an hour away. Only all terrain vehicles and motorcycles can handle the road. Not even four wheel drive pickups can make it on the last stretch of the road. Wednesday evening, a drenching downpour made the last hill treacherous. I was driving the Yamaha Rhino and carrying three passengers. When I arrived half way up the hill, the back tires started spinning and one of the front tires lifted off the ground. After my passengers hopped off, they pulled and pushed on the Rhino until I made it past that bad spot. I thank the Lord for His protection throughout the week.

During the revival services, I heard several good testimonies of God's redeeming power. One young man, named ExaDye, testified that he had gone to the Dominican Republic seeking money and women, but the Lord sent him back to Haiti. A drug ring tried using him as one of their contacts in Haiti, but God took him out of that as well. He now wants to serve God faithfully. A young lady, named Guilenn, went to the altar on Wednesday night. Afterwards, she testified that Satan was trying to trap her by using young men. Also, her mother was discouraging her by selling beer. Nevertheless, Guilenn testified with determination that she is going to serve the Lord. One of the church members confessed that she had been telling lies but from now on she will not be doing that. She also confessed to showing anger in the home. She wants to have a better attitude in the home, so that she can be a good example to her family.

Sunday morning, the Salmadere church dismissed service to come to Bentourible. Around 85 people attended the service. We began Sunday School at 9:30 A.M. After Sunday school, we had a short church business meeting and heard the testimonies of all our church members. This was followed by several congregational and group songs, after which, we had communion. Unfortunately, scores of black ants had attacked several of the communion cups. By 12:30, the service was just getting warmed up. Two choirs sang and Pastor Edlens took up the offering. Finally, about 1 P.M., I began the "morning" message. Pastor Edlens dismissed the church service at 1:40 P.M. That was a long service!

That afternoon, we visited Guilenn's home and talked to her mother about coming to Jesus for Salvation. The "evening" service began about 4 P.M. and lasted until 6 o'clock. When I arrived home after 7 in the evening, I was tired out.

These people need your prayers, especially those that made spiritual progress during the week. Pastor Edlens also needs supporting prayer. He is a younger pastor, 28 years old. His wife couldn't come during the entire week because she was sick, which added a lot of pressure on Pastor Edlens. Even so, he worked non-stop throughout the entire week, running the church school, making a trip to Thomonde, organizing a painting project at the church and a small road project near the church property. May God give him wisdom and strength for this church at Bentourible. Thank you for your prayers during the revival week. God is doing a work at Bentourible.
