Bwa Joli Trip

Mon, 07/16/2012 - 12:35pm |  haititrails

8 days ago, on a Sunday morning, we made a torturous trek back into the mountains of Haiti, to our little mission work at Bwa Joli.  Some people take over 2 hours hiking back in there.  We cut the hike down to one hour.  I took Matt Davis back in there to preach as part of his ministry experience for his internship.  Two Haitian brothers made the trip with us, Brother Nehemy and Brother Wilfred.  Brother Wilfred was our guide back through the maze of mountain trails.  My brother Dylan also went with us.

About 70 people gathered in for the service.  Most of them were visitors, which shows how easily these people can be touched by the gospel.  It is so hard to get back in there, which means there are fewer churches and cults pawing over the area.  I was impressed to learn that the pioneer church leader, Brother Sone, is faithful to hold church every Sunday.  It would be easy for him to grow discouraged in such a remote area, but he is dedicated to this work.
