Mob Stones Missionaries
Last week, we enjoyed having Rev. Hardy and his family with us. They gave us so many encouraging words. The Haitian people just loved them. Mrs. Hardy showed an amazing ability with the Creole language which endeared her to the Haitian people. Rev. Hardy preached two wonderful messages on Sunday morning and Sunday night at the Thomonde church and the Bernaco church, which saw scores of people seeking God. Last Saturday, I took them on a sight seeing trip to a waterfalls called Basin Zim. It is an enchanting place, showing the beauty of God’s Creation.
After seeing the waterfalls, we hiked above the falls to a large cave, which is amazing in itself. The Hardy family braved the climb and entered the cave.
As we began to hike back down the mountain, a young Haitian came running to tell us that we had a flat tire. When we arrived at the vehicle, we began changing the tire. The nail was sticking half out of the tire, which made me think someone did the job. A crowd of scowling people gathered around us. I heard many comments like, “I would have made them pay to go see the cave.” One woman said, “I did something and they won’t leave until they pay.” After we fixed the tire, we began to drive out on the trail only to be confronted by about 15 youths with rocks clenched in their hands. I knew that if we ran, they would really let us have it. I drove the vehicle at a leisurely pace as they began to throw rocks. Some of the punks climbed on the back of the Toyota van. I stopped the vehicle twice to force them off. Two rocks hit the vehicle but none broke our windows. We thank the Lord for His protection during this incident and we pray that the people of that area would find salvation in Jesus Christ
